Pride In Our City

Branding and exhibition design for Pride In Our City - a community retelling of Hull Museums collection. The exhibition celebrates Hull’s LGBTQ+ history and documents people’s own experiences of being part of LGBTQ+ communities in Hull. Designed via consultation with participating groups, a lively DIY aesthetic was used to personalise interpretation and reflect individual voices.

TESTIMONIAL

Working with an artist who was able to listen to the voices of our communities and visualise their personal narratives into a cohesive design, whilst taking on board the realities of bringing their work together in a large gallery space was essential – Lydia was able to so this, and much more.

Ideas, thoughts, and suggestions proposed in the design of the Pride in Our City exhibition at the Ferens Art Gallery by both community members and curators were heard and executed by Lydia effortlessly. Alongside her obvious talent, she brought commitment and ease which made Lydia a pleasure to work with throughout the project. Given the chance, I would jump at the opportunity to work with Lydia again.
