Very excited to announce that a new public art commission is underway for Absolutely Cultured, the legacy organisation which followed the Hull UK City of Culture company. Lydia Caprani was commissioned to design and paint a gable end on Coltman Street as part of the Bikes & Beans project, alongside multiple designs for the neighbouring Transpennine Trail cycle route. The series of new pattern designs were influenced by Coltman Street's eclectic architectural history, sensitive to it's conservation status whilst injecting a much needed bright and positive colour palette to the neighbourhood.
The gable end was completed by Lydia in May 2019, whilst the remaining walls are currently been uplifted by the Absolutely Cultured volunteers who wanted to transform the overlooked Bean Street cycle track through colour and art. The volunteers are learning to paint large scale designs and use stencils and will be celebrating completion with a community bike event.
